Rob and Debbie George started in the seafood business in 1984 when the couple opened their retail fish market in Santa Cruz, California. In 1985, they expanded by flying in live Dungeness Crab so they could cook their own crab and offer it for sale. This quickly grew to supplying customers throughout the San Francisco Bay area with their live crab and was the beginnings of what would become The Crab Broker.

In 1995, Rob and Debbie pioneered the idea of shipping fresh cooked Alaska Red King Crab out of Dutch Harbor to chefs around the country. It became such a large part of their business that they decided to close their fish market and concentrate on the fresh crab program. The fresh Alaska Crab program has made The Crab Broker the premier supplier of authentic Alaska crab throughout the U.S.

As a firm believer in 100% traceability, we still buy our live and fresh cooked Alaska crab from the same vessels and processing plant in Dutch Harbor year after year.
